API traffic: Points, Types, Perspectives (for affiliates)
Published: 15.03.2024
Things are constantly changing in the arbitrage world, and API traffic is one of the key tools that opens up limitless possibilities for marketers. In SD, you can find many tools that help affiliates earn money. We have long gone beyond just redirect traffic when there is an opportunity to drive traffic to different API affiliate programs.
The Ukrainian market and other countries offer affiliates the opportunity to work with different API affiliate programs. Today, our attention is focused on API International’s direction. Let’s look at how this tool opens new opportunities for success.

API traffic is a powerful tool for collecting leads used by affiliates on their resources, such as websites or apps. Each lead has at least two mandatory fields – name and phone number but may contain other mandatory fields depending on the advertiser’s requirements.
Mechanics of work with API traffic in SD
Affiliate sends leads via API to an advertiser through the SalesDoubler system.
When a lead is received, the advertiser records it in the system and usually reacts immediately upon receipt – marking it as a take, reject, or accepted for work. If the advertiser chooses the last option, he starts interacting with the client, coordinates the credit, and sends a postback when the client’s target action is reached, which is recorded in the SD system as a conversion.
In this case, each conversion on the affiliate program is immediately automatically displayed in the affiliate’s cabinet in his statistics on API-affiliate programs with the mark “In processing.” In the “Payments” section of the personal account, the payment for this conversion is added to the total balance of the affiliate’s API.
Difference between classic redirect traffic and API traffic
In classic redirect traffic, you take a link to one specific affiliate program and drive traffic on it, so the attracted clients are directed only to this service.
However, transferring leads via API allows you to customize the sending of leads from one page to several affiliate programs.
Thanks to a special API service that exchanges user data, this complex interaction process is realized.
Types of payments by API
We are all here to make money. That’s why one of the key aspects of learning about API traffic is understanding the different payment models that determine the reward for different targeted actions. Different payment types are used in the world of traffic arbitrage. We’ve told you about them many times. Let’s talk about the targeted actions that are commonly used in API traffic:
- CPA is the most common payment model in API traffic, where the advertiser pays on for action. It is the most frequent targeting action, which allows you to determine campaign performance simply and efficiently.
- CPL is used less often but also has a place in API traffic. In this case, payment is made for a valid lead. It helps the advertiser understand the audience’s real interest and further engage with them.
- Revshare, though rarely used, but can be found in certain affiliate programs. In this case, the reward is calculated as a percentage of the revenue generated from the lead.
Understanding these payment types will allow you to effectively choose strategies and affiliate programs to maximize the effectiveness of your campaigns.
Types of API Affiliate Programs
API affiliate programs are presented in the “Affiliate Programs” section of the personal account of an affiliate, and they can be divided into two groups:
- Direct affiliate programs: When traffic is directed only to one selected advertiser and does not go anywhere else.
- Multi-application: When a lead enters the SD system, it is automatically analyzed to determine which advertisers it is suitable for and is sent to all suitable advertisers and several affiliate programs at once.
The Benefits of Two Types of Affiliate Programs
The benefits of direct affiliate programs are:
- possibility of end-to-end sending to the advertiser of your choice. That is if a direct affiliate program is integrated into a showcase site or other resource, the user does not go to the affiliate program site, but from the affiliate resource, it goes directly to the advertiser’s system, where it is processed and monetized.
- working with the direct affiliate program and providing certain volumes of unique leads for a particular advertiser implies the possibility of providing individual rates to expand traffic and increase profits.
The benefits of multi-application are:
- increased probability of lead conversion due to many advertisers participating in the multi-application. Thus, if a conversion on a lead did not occur for one advertiser, it can occur for another one because sending a lead through a multi-application is carried out, on average, for five or more advertisers.
- An affiliate’s multi-application income is the sum of his payments from all advertisers where the lead has been converted. Thus, if the conversion occurs in several advertisers, the affiliate will receive several payments on one lead (unlike a direct affiliate program, where one lead = always one payment).
- cascade sending of a lead by multi-application implies that the lead is first sent to the most profitable affiliate programs, then to less profitable ones, and this happens gradually so that the client does not call several advertisers at the same time.
Today, multi-application in SD is configured for Ukraine and Kazakhstan and includes sending leads to more than ten advertisers in Ukraine and more than five advertisers in Kazakhstan. This number is gradually growing as new advertisers join the market in Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
API traffic: where to start?
- To start earning from API, you need a landing page, such as an offerwall (a comparison site with affiliate programs) or a site with credit affiliate programs.
- Then, you must choose the type of affiliate program – multi-application or direct affiliate program.
- After that, integrate the form according to the instructions from your personal account and start to drive traffic to your site.
To integrate via API, you must take API documentation in your personal account in the “Tools” section.
API Integration Features
Go to the “Affiliate Programs” section in the affiliate’s personal account and select API affiliate programs in the “Types of traffic” field.
You need to select an affiliate program variant and click the “Details” button. All important information about the affiliate program will be displayed:
- rate
- region requirements
- client portrait for each advertiser
- required documents for the client, etc.
When integrating by API, first of all, you should pay attention to the advertiser’s mandatory fields. They are specified in the affiliate’s personal account for each affiliate program.
Suppose an affiliate sends a lead without any data in the mandatory fields or sends fewer fields than the advertiser requires. In that case, the system will not send such a lead to the advertiser, as it does not fit there. And the advertiser will not take such a lead into work.
Important: Since API transmits a set of client personal data, the processing of which requires the consent of clients according to the legislation, such consent must be collected, and information about it must be transmitted via API to the SD system.
You have to remember that GDPR applies in European countries. In this market, it is necessary to strictly comply with all its provisions and EU legislation, which regulates the collection, processing and transfer of personal data of customers who want to get a loan.
The SD system does not send advertisers leads without a mark on receipt by the affiliate of the client’s consent to process personal data.
Therefore, before the affiliate starts working on API. It is necessary to request approve once by clicking on the corresponding button in your personal account, entering your data in a special form, and concluding a contract for working on API.
According to this agreement, the affiliate is responsible for transferring leads without consent to the processing of personal data.
API traffic statistics and withdrawal
Most advertisers who accept API traffic give online information about conversions.
A conversion is a lead that results in a targeted action, which is payable to the advertiser and, accordingly, payable to the affiliate.
The SD system automatically accepts this information from advertisers via API. It counts by conversions to the affiliate, and in the affiliate’s account:
- The API statistics section shows information about accepted traffic, SD system cutoffs. Like duplicates, absence of advertisers’ affiliate programs to which a lead fits, presence of a lead in the blacklist, etc. Also the number of leads sent to the advertiser, and conversions sent by the advertiser, with calculations of payments for them.
In the affiliate’s personal account, it is very convenient to analyze the funnel and profitability of the traffic sent to SD in terms of dates, providers, and leads.
- In the Payments section, you can see balances by API in terms of available funds for withdrawal and funds (conversion payments) that are still awaiting confirmation from advertisers.
Affiliate can order payments confirmed by advertisers in their personal accounts and withdraw them to their accounts online via SD system.
API international geography and metrics
Today, SD is integrated with advertisers in regions such as Kazakhstan, Romania, Mexico, and Spain, in addition to those in Ukraine.
In the markets of Kazakhstan and Romania, SD has been successfully working on API since November 2022. And is actively developing this direction, constantly connecting new advertisers and affiliates.
The volume of sending is more than 400,000 leads per month. Advertisers have no limits on accepting leads, so the volume of accepting leads and sending them is constantly increasing.
In Europe and Latin America, API traffic is prevalent. It gives advertisers 50% to 70% of the total volume of leads. They are very interested in new integrations and affiliates. This method of integration is especially common with broker affiliates. They first aggregate leads in-house and then pass them to advertisers via API.
It has not been widespread in Central and South-East Asia but is only gaining momentum.
API traffic. Perspectives
Developing its platform, SD systematically expands its affiliate base of advertisers in different regions. It provides affiliates with a wide range of API affiliate programs to effectively handle traffic and maximize their potential.
Using a scheme to send leads through API becomes an independent source of traffic generation and an excellent tool for pre-monetizing traffic in general. There are many case studies where API affiliate programs have increased the ROI of affiliates within a single region.
Additionally, there are many different tricks in the world of API traffic that can effectively optimize an affiliate’s performance. These technical enhancements can always be discussed with your account manager. Using API traffic empowers affiliates and opens up new perspectives for effective traffic management and increased profits.
